Question drive belt questions

on my 1997 metro lsi, ac, ps, etc. my alternator belt broke and came off. i cant figure out now how to install a new one. i need to know if the alternator shares a belt with the water pump, and also what the belt layout or direction is.

The belt goes right around everything except the A/C compressor. Unfortunately, the A/C compressor belt is on the outside of the crank pulley. You'll have to remove the A/C belt before you can get the PS/alternator/water pump belt on. The alternator is the tensioner. Loosen the bolt at the top and bottom of the alternator, and it will pivot back and forth, so you can get the belt on.
