Angry Electrical problems!!!once again.........

OK here's the current problem. When I got my car the battery was dead. I replaced the battery and tried to start it, nothing. The 80 amp main fuse was blown, every time I put a new one on it would blow. Come to find out the wire that goes from the alternator back to the negative battery terminal was bad, and fried my alternator. Well I replaced the alternator and the wire. I hooked up the terminals to the battery and the alternator started smoking. So I guess I fried a brand new alternator. I can't seem to find the short in my system, and it's driving me crazy. Anyone have any ideas.
