How to replace a drive shaft seal?
1999, 3.1L. The seal for the drive shaft is leaking, it is the driver's side seal. I am wondering how easy it is to replace? Also, when the car is idling it sometimes makes like a wailing noise. Is there a bearing that could be bad? Seems like the noise is coming from that leaking area...
However, is there just a bearing that also seals the drive shaft or is there a bearing and then a seal? How easy this would be to fix? Any comments would help! I am trying to decide if I should bring this car to a shop or get my tools out and get my hands dirty... |

Re: How to replace a drive shaft seal?
I never replaced one on these, but you'd have to split the ball joint and tie rod end, pull the spindle off the CV shaft and remove the shaft, then pry the seal out and press a new one in, then reassemble. If you are comfortable doing that, it should only take a couple of hours.
