98 windstar stalls while driving

98 windstar stalls while driving, new crate engin, crate tranni less than a year old:

Stalls on excelleration, Stalls at low rpm, Stalls on turns, Stalls on decelleraton, Replaced the IAC-dealer part, New injectors. At this stage is it permissable to clean out the insice of the throttle with carb cleaner to remove deposits from throttle plate. New lower intake manafold. There appears to be no vacuum leaks.

Stalls occure at random

Re: 98 windstar stalls while driving

How old is the battery? Is it in good condition? I would have it tested for free at AutoZone or Advance Auto to rule out a weak or dying battery!

If battery check out OK start by checking a connections to Engine and PCM

Re: 98 windstar stalls while driving

Checked connections at battery and grounds, electrition friend said I was loseing 1/2
volt from alternater to the battery.

My michanic disconnected the egr and I ran the car. All symtoms disapeared, however, in 2 days the engine check light came on for egr. That was no problem. It gave me the idea that the problem was where I never attempted to service because the manual told me not to. So, I said its a 98, the hell with it! The throtle plate was cakeing up with oil deposits. I hit that with carb cleaner to remove as much as possible then reinstalled the breather. Runs a whole lot better. I can bearly touch the accelorator and the entine will respond in kind. I use to rebuild carbs in the military, so one to the first things I did after buying a used car was to rebuild the carb. With fuel injection, now, I'm looking for oil deposits in the throtle body. I will remove the throtle body and give it a good cleaning. Then go back to my cold air breather.
