was at the boat ramp launching my bass boat last week. launched the boat no problem. when i went to put the boat back on the trailer, the car wouldnt start. all the dash lights came but wouldnt turn over. popped the hood and we could hear the fast clicking like you have in a low voltage situation. fluke meter read 12.75 volts, took off battery cables and cleaned all connections..still nothing.
while on the phone arranging someone to come get me the truck starts. backed the trailer down the ramp put the boat on...told my buddy to leav it running. when i got the boat loaded up the truck dies (on the boat ramp). a guy at the launch offered to pull me out and up to the parking lot. again while making the call to get picked up, the truck starts again. left it running for 30 minutes and it didnt die again. took the risk and drove it home 40 miles.
after i got it home it started flawlessly..did so the next day as well. took it to my mechanic (who has always done awesome work for me). he said it started flawlessly every time he tried and said he couldnt get it to reproduce the problem i encountered and that we'd just have to wait until it started acting up again or until the problem became more consistent before he could pinpoint the problem.
anyone with this vehicle experience anything like this?..or have any insight?
