1/18 Cars
Here's the first pic of my collection. It's a touched-up Ferrari 288 GTO. I dunno why most people don't like Bburago. They're perfect for customizing, and they're relatively cheap... and they have a wide range of everything...
Anyway, here it is... feedback would be nice

Both look very nice.
What sort of mods do you do after buying them?

PMan:
Bburago's actually have a LOT of detail on them, just that they're painted chrome or something and isn't very distinguishable from the rest. The mods include the usual painting of trim lines and window borders. I may sometimes strip the paint off the models and repaint the entire thing (automotive lacquer of course...) but that's only if i have an extra set of decals or stickers for the model. Other mods include tweaking the metal frame so the parts fit better, and maybe LEDs for the headlights and taillights (so far unsuccessful...) WAXING is important The only thing I haven't tried is putting carpeting on the floors... Forhod: I got a tonne of Ferraris... still haven't put up the testarossas, 456's, 3xx's, 330P4, etc. I still need a 512BB though...

This is one reason why I love AutoArt models. The seats come with cloth and it comes carpeted. Of course the price is ridiculously expensive, but worth it when you see the level of detail that they put into their models.
I'm also experimenting with modding these cars. Right now I'm deliberating putting drag slicks and stuff on my "Fast and Furious" Charger. They unfortunately built it with stock tires for some reason. I've seen people mod rims, wheels, interiors, and even engines. Don't ask.

Stripping paint from metal models:
NOT recommended: - Dropping it on the ground - Giving it to a little kid - Flat screwdriver or chisel Recommended: - Really coarse sandpaper, like 150grit or something - Motor tool or sander I haven't tried using CSC to strip paint from metal models... gotta try that one day... In either case u need some filler material to smoothen the body, dry-wall compound works well actually. Or just spray the model with like several thick layers of primer. It's really hard to correct defects in metal car bodies... it's not plastic you can't shave off metal easily. Several thick coats of primer will go a long way in making things smoother. I suggest using automotive lacquer to paint the model cuz it's cheap, readily available, and it looks ultra-realistic.
