Elise or Esprit or Exige

Hey fellow automotive people.

I was driving one day and saw a brand new lotus elise... my jaw droped. So, i started looking at Lotuses. I can decide!
Is the Esprit worth the extra $30,000 from an Elise.
And what is the differance between an Exige and an Elise.

I would greatly apreaciate some stats mabey and some advice.

No, its not it sort of looks like one of those old style 80's-90's cars. You should go for the elise. It looks much more exotic than the Esprit. In two years when i turn sixteen I plan to get an Exige or Elise myself. One plus side about the Esprit is that sometimes people tend to mistake it for a ferrari or lamborghini. That is until they snag a closer look at it.

And the difference between an Exige and an Elise is that the Exige has a racing style front and back and the back looks very nice. The elise on the other hand has more of an exotic look that makes the car look more expensive than it really is. When I first saw it I thought it was just about $100,000 to $300,000 come to find out its only $30,000.

How did you not mention the ~500HP and the twin turbos of the Esprit...

My uncle has one, its an AMAZING car, when its running... VERY unreliable. The Elise handles better and has a Toyota engine, so no worries there...

If you tell me what state and city(optional) I can tell you where the nearest Lotus car place is. Got anymore questions just ask me i may only be 14 but i am a car obsessor i know every car brand and every type all the colors they come in 0-60 & 0-100. Without looking it up on the computer. Thats why i always win the name that car game anyway just tell me the state and ill tell you thelotus companies for that state

I agree the elise looks 10X more expensive than it is...but your $30,000 is a bit off.

The base price is $42,000. Loaded and out the door you're looking at $52,000.

actually when the lotus Elise came out it was originally 32,000 but its price then went up another $10,000 i just found out the price went up 2 weeks ago

Hmmm..I own two Elises and was on the waiting list 2.5 years for both. The lowest price, even two and a half years ago was always $39,000. Went up to $40,000 at the LA auto show last year, then went up another $1000 about two months ago, and now has gone up again.


I also notice your profile says you own a 2004 Lotus Elise. I assume you're saying you own a Euro Spec 111R elise for track use only?

Because all Federal Lotus Elises ( 1000 total have been delivered in the US and delivery only started about 5 months ago) are all 2005 model year cars.

My profile doesn't say i own a lotus elise the very first message i posted states i plan to buy one when i turn 16 im still 14 and secondly I know someone who bought their 2005 for 32,000 with the tour pack that totaled up to 35,000 They bought it off a european site and had it imported here he was the first american to own one before they decided to sell them here. ohh and if you look at my profile again you may notice it says that i own a 340R also purchased off the european market check my bio.

I'll have to Let Lotus USA know your friend was the first to own an elise in the US..... and he was able to purchase it for less than anyone else in the world! The Elise S2 costs more in Europe than it does here and it has the Rover motor nor will it be street legal.

Also something odd about that is that the federal elise is the only elise being offered with touring pack etc...not sure where he purchased a Federal Elise in Europe.....

Even more bizarre than the first point ( which makes it impossible).. ..but Im not sure how he got a Federal Elise with touring pack in Europe PERIOD because they decided to sell these in the US 3 years ago..but the design etc was far from finished and there werent any Federal S2 elises on the market. Bizarre.


There are many S1 elises in the US that have been imported by Lotus USA and sold for track use only, as well as some S1 exiges, and even mark starr and his 340R.

Not trying to argue with you, just think your facts arent adding up and dont make much sense.

Yes yo are tryin to argue let me ask u somethin bud have you ever heard of someone called 50Cent good friends anyway he realeased his video in da club in 2001 ok keepin up so far old man. At the beggining of the vid you can see a hummer H2 but the H2 didn't come out until when im sure you know it. Okay, and he says he only paid 30, 000. Mainly because he was a famous person. but the H2 cost 52,285/54,815/&56,525. Just like my other friend who bought the Lotus off a euro site for 30,000 you may know what the hells goin on in Loui but you don't know anything about ATL yeah you may have traveled down here to buy your saffron lotus but you don't know what else goes on down here in my life heck i don't know what the hecks going on in your life either but we celebs get discounts on lots of stuff i get 20% off anything i buy thats more the $2,000. So just don't talk to me anymore about the lotus elise because i'm not getting one anymore i just purchased a gallardo and a modena and in two days im going to buy an opel speedster when i go to europe. I don't know who the hell you think you are just comin in here actin like you know more about cars than me. And maybe you do but i bet i own more than you hell i bet i make more money than you do in a single year i make millions a month. Do you think it makes you look smart fuckin talkin about federal this federal that it doesnt makes you look like an annoying smart ass. Now i don't curse but i mean you where pissing the crap out of me. And im very sry bout that. But you need to stay out of peoples buisness nobody asked you to come in here frickin annoying people.
