Aoshima Takegawa Honda Monkey

Build #2 for me this year.
I brought 2 Aoshima Monkey kits last year as a friend was restoring his bike and I saw them on Hobby Search and the price was right lol ($10) Funnily enough, I saw some of these kits for sale at my local hobby store (not Takegawa) for 6 times the price I paid. Man, I laughed.

Anyhoo, pics

The small box and contents.

Then the mandatory chrome removal.

I then removed the knobs off the tires and sanded to make them look like slicks.

I modified the handle bars.

And started painting with Alclad.

More to come.

Cheers

Good start. Man those chrome bits were ugly. Glad you stripped those back

Interesting work so far. With the slick tires, I am wondering if you are planning a supermoto style bike? Keep it up!

Kind of, just not liking knobby tires on a road bike.

I have done a retro Motard by putting NSR250 wheels on a CR250 kit. It's on here 👍🏻

Got a bit done tonight. Cleared the decals on the tank and assembled some parts. Although I am getting fish eyes in my paint finish. Dunno what it contaminating my finish. Really bugging me. I'm wondering if there is something on my Tamiya anti static brush 🤔
