no bus
While driving home last night the dashboard display was going crazy. The gas and the temperature gauge went down, the brake light light came on, the tach. didn't work and check engine light also lit up and where the mileage is, I think it read no bus. Then all of sudden it all went back to normal. About 20 seconds later it happened again and back to normal. What is going on? 2001 300m
I want to Thank You in advance. 0148k Last edited by 0148k; 10-06-2016 at 04:50 PM. |

Re: no bus
When weird stuff like that happens the first thing I suspect is a failing alternator.

Re: no bus
Stealthee, Thanks for the suggestion, I checked the voltage across the battery, with the engine running, 14.3 v. Is there another test regarding the alternator?
By the way you have a GREAT looking car! |

Re: no bus
Alternator may be working correctly now, unfortunately with it being a sporadic out of the blue thing then back to normal it is hard to track down and diagnose. It may have just been a hiccup, or it may have been a telling of a failure to come.
Thanks for the compliment. The car LOOKED great at one time. Its currently been sitting with hopes of getting it looking even better when time and more importantly money come into play.
