Transmission vent hose leaking fluid
I have just bought a yaris 1.0L (yr 2005) and changed transmission fluid. Car is running fine exept for the transmission vent hose leaks transmission fluid only when engine is cold and after about 4 mins after starting engine and leaving it to idle.Fluid level appears to be normal (there is no dipstick)but is full of bubbles. Anyone can advise me please.

Re: Transmission vent hose leaking fluid
At first it was overfilled. Then the mechanic drained the exess fluid. But still it is the same thing in the morning.

Try to post the same question at Yaris section where people are more familiar with your vehicle.

Re: Transmission vent hose leaking fluid
The mechanic did the change. In fact he used the conventional way of changing the fluid. Later I learned that 2/3 of it remains in the convertor. You have probably noticed that I am a novice in this field. The fluid used was Shell Donax TA Type IID. There is no dipstick and fluid does not overflow from the filler hole

Re: Transmission vent hose leaking fluid
your mechanic may have put the wrong fluid in!!! best bet is to call your local toyota dealership for the correct fluid
also, did he exactly measure out how many quarts it drained & put in the same amount? according to a TSB in 28 June 2007, you're supposed to use: ATF-WS another reason why no trans fluid dipstick is those vehicles have a 100,000 mile fluid change interval since it's also synthetic fluid... but others want to change it ~50,000 miles to ~60,ooo miles http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/sho...d.php?p=246644 and yarisworld.com is a more active forum for your vehicle... but i didn't find how many quarts is for a drain and refill only... also right click this link and download to your desktop for the pdf file: http://www.etimago.com/yaris/TSB/TS-...0Fluid%20).pdf ps the filler hole is not an accurate way to check for the level of these dipstick-less transmissions my sister's chevy cavalier 2.2L also has one of these cumbersome transmissions... it has a bolt on the side to check the level... i'm afraid that yours is still overfilled! hence those bubbles... a very bad thing for your transmission |
