PE "Ferrari" script
I'm talking about the one that is put on the engine covers and the backs of the cars. Neither me, nor Jay can find it anywhere, so does anyone know if somebody makes the photoetched Ferrari script? It's moulded into the cover of he Tamiya Testarossa kit and I'll be damned if I can paint it so that it'd look good. Any help appreciated.
The best idea so far is order replacement metal ransfers for the 360 but that's not really the way I want to go. Thanks in advance, Alex

Alex,
There is one available, I think it was from Scaledreams.com or somebody like that. I think I recall somebody else on another forum that has used the PE Ferrari script before, I will try getting hold of him to see where he got it. Just post if you find it before I found out where to get it. Ray

The one I "know of," but I've never seen in stock, is made by Replicas & Miniatures Company of Maryland. ScaleDreams has a Replicas & Miniatures Company of Maryland section, but the Ferrari script is not listed...

I saw this in a scale modeler magazine a few years ago. Mask off an area around the script that you are interested in. cover the script with "real metal foil" and rub it down. Use a toothpick to get it into the areas inside the small letters. Now build a small dam around the area (about 1/8" high) with masking tape. Brush elmers white glue over the script (This will serve as a release agent later) and let it dry. Now fill the
dam with epoxy and let it cure. Carefully peel the whole thing off of the model now and fill the void (hollow script) with super glue and let it set. Next sand the back side smooth (sand through the foil until only the lettering is covered). Now place the whole thing in a bowl of warm water to disolve the Elmers glue. The new super glue filled chrome script will be released. Be careful as it will be very delicate. For those living in Europe and other countries, Elmers glue is a white glue (aliphatic resin) and is water soluble. :flash: |

I'm sure i saw a set on Ebay a while back and i'm fairly certain that it was by Museum Collection coz i remember the distinct logo in the corner of the fret. However the only emblem set from them on HLJ is this one - http://www.hlj.com/cgi-local/hljpage.cgi?MCLSP-03

Vintage PE set?
If you are in a modeling hobby long enough you collect all kinds of neat stuff. I ordered R&MM's script about 10 years ago, and I still have a few. The left is Ferrari script set, and the right is Testarossa GTO set. Here's a enlarged photo. Also, if the body has a raised letter, you can try foil casting. http://www.asahi-net.or.jp/~xr2h-fkd.../foilcast.html |

Well, if everything fails, I'll have to give that foil casting a try. Thatnks a lot for the tips, guys.
Still getting the PE script would be better. Freakray?
