2000 Chevy Express van no whirling sound from fuel pump

have replaced fuel pump relay (in fuse box under hood). book said relay and fuse are in same location. could not find a fuse for fuel pump. van will not start and when key is in ON position no whirling sound from fuel pump is heard. hoping it wont require fuel pump to be replaced. only car we have and no room in budget to pay the 800 bucks they are saying it might cost. any troubleshooting ideas to eliminate all other possiblities and pin point it to the fuel pump?

Re: 2000 Chevy Express van no whirling sound from fuel pump

What size van?
What engine?

First thing would be check for 12 volts to fuel pump.
Usually gray wire.
If no 12 volts on it key on prime up or engine cranking jumper it with a fused jumper and see if pump runs.

Also check for spark to plugs.

Post back info and what you find .
