94 g20 stumble just off idle
Hey all. I have a 94 g20 with a 5.7. The engine is a rebuilt jasper with 37,000 miles. The van itself has 210,000. All was ok until 3 days ago. Its started bogging and stumbling when accelerating from a dead stop. It sounds like it starving for fuel. It does not do this when applying heavy throttle from a stop. Only when barely getting on it. I replaced the plugs, fuel filter, o2 sensor and egr valve. Other than this the van runs very well. Its not the plug wires, if it was it would run like crap all over the rpm range, although im gonna test them tomorrow for fun.
Where do I want to look next? |

As far as I know the fuel injection is stock along with everything else except the engine.

Also, it doesnt do it when its stone cold. Two minutes of driving and presto, it starts doing it.

Sounds like a vacuum leak or a stuck open EGR valve.

Re: 94 g20 stumble just off idle
It is in the egr vacuum solenoid or the temp sensor. I disconnected the vacuum line going to the egr valve and plugged both ends. The van runs like new again.

Its not the vacuum solenoid either. I put a new one on and it still stumbles. Will it hurt to run the van without the egr valve hooked up? It runs good without the vacuum line connected to it.

Re: 94 g20 stumble just off idle
Have you tried replacing the vac line? Could the vac line itself be the problem?I don't believe running w/o the EGR will damage the engine but you might not pass emissions testing depending upon where you live. Here in Nazi Jerky that mod would go down on the emissions test.

The vacuum lines are new. Also, we dont have emissions testing in wisconsin. The dot doesnt seem to care if your emissions systems are working although I will remedy this problem asap.

I have a question? What 2 ends did you block. There is only one vacuum line on the egr.
