Seat Noise and Sagging
Since I've decided that this half-truck may be a "keeper' I wanted to work on quieting the ride. I've had some nuisance noises, one of which was the driver's seat. If you hear a rattle or chime in the seat, this might be your problem as well. It's a pretty easy repair.
After unhooking and removing the upholstery and a few bolts, the seat back removes easily: The problem becomes readily apparent: A little bending, fitting, and clamping and it is ready for repair: A few quick welds and the reinforcement rods are back home: Knowing that the rods fatigued once already, the welds were heated and quenched for hardness, then annealed back at about 600°: With the frame attached to the seat base, installation of the plastic sheet, foam, and clips is easy: Attachment of the fiber backer completes the preparation: And installing the upholstery is easy (remember to position and secure the Velcro between the front bolsters): Not only is the seat quiet, but lumbar support and overall form are restored.
