Power window problem

I just picked up a 98 Century Custom and the back window on the passenger side isn't working. Pushing the button on the door or the drivers console gets me nothing. The window power lock also doesn't work. The rest of the windows all work fine. Any ideas

The power door locks and window use seperate power and grounds......open the door......there is a wire loom between the "B" pillar and the rear door....it's possible the wires may be broken inside the loom or even disconnected.....

Otherwise, you need a wiring diagram, to check out the circuit from the master switch.....you check this at the harness connector to the door window switch.....if it checks out ok, then it could be the switch in the door, the wiring to the motor(rare) or the motor itself....

The door power locks are ok. It's the toogle switch to lock the windows and it's located in the drivers side main console. Just happens to be right under the two back window power buttons. One works the other doesn't.

Could the problem be connected.

OK, I understand......but that switch would lock out the other rear window if that was the problem......

I was thinking about the wire loom in the rr door.....forgot about the wire loom to the driver's door......ground to the rr window motor goes through the master switch......there are two wires that go from the master switch to the switch in the rr door....they are both switched grounds.....a third wire goes to the switch, and is powered when the key is on.....there are two more wires....they go through the switch contacts of the door window switch to the motor.......

Here is how you test these circuits....remove the rr window switch and disconnect the harness from the switch......ground a test light.....find the one wire in the harness that has power(key has to be on)......now attach your test light to the powered wire, and with the other end, probe the other four wires.....it should light on two of the wires....those are the two wires that go to the master switch....the other two wires that don't light, go to the motor....now if it lights on the two wires, attach the test light to the two wires that go to the master switch....now operate the master switch to the rr....if it lights in BOTH directions, the wires AND the switch are ok...if it doesn't, bad master switch...

If the wires don't light the test light(only one or none) in the first test, then a wire or wires are broken OR the master switch is bad.....need to check the loom to the driver's door for a broken wire.....

If you get two wires that do light, then using two jumper wires, jumper one of the master switch wires to a motor wire.....do the same on the other master switch wire to the motor wire.....now with the key on operate the master switch to thr rr door, up and down to see if the window moves...if it goes up and down(may work the opposite of the switch because the wires may be reversed), then the door switch is bad......if it doesn't move at all, bad motor.....
