Unhappy HELP Oil Leak has me worried

I have a new problem I have a 1987 cutlass ciera 3.8 v-6 and recently fixed a problem with it stalling, it was the crankshaft sensor (was cracked)....I had this car since november of 03' and a few days after owning it noticed a small oil leak comeing from the front passenger side of engine towards rear, i figured no problem small leak, but after changing the Crank shaft position sensor it seems to be leaking alot more oil it doesn't apear to be comeing from the oil filter and still with it leaking ive checked the oil dipstick and it's still full i'm using the recomended 10-30 motor oil (valvoline) any ideas of where to start? HELP!! I'm worried

Thanks you guys are really helpful.

Does anyone think it can be the Oil Pressure Switch or Sending Unit? BTW I still have good oil pressure if that has anything to do with it.

Re: HELP Oil Leak has me worried

I'm not sure with your vehicle but it could be similar to my 1990 Olds Cutlass. The oil pump drive shaft seal is located behind the engine. The rubber o-ring seal for the oil pump drive shaft seal breaks over time and it leaks out oil there. Check this link out to give you an idea. http://www.v6z24.com/howto/oring

I was having oil problems with my 94 cutlass i was using about a qt every week or so i had to have my heads rebuilt if u cant find the leak this might be a possiablity . the oil never left oil stains or anything but my exhaust was a little blue we couldnt figure out where it was going sure enough it was the heads, i also started using max life for my car its recommened for cars the have over 75,000 miles and it helps seal leaks u might want t6o change your oil.

Wink

I agree with "slade901". I have an oil leak at the rear of my 94 Cutlass Supreme. Just posted a question about it. As I understand from the manual, Olds left a seal in place where they had originally designed the distributor to be placed before the front wheel drive was in place. This seal also may be leaking. Look on the left side next to the plenum at the firewall (You'll need a flashlight). From my past experience, that seal and "slade901's" are common leaks found on the 3.4.

FYI, I'm just a DIY who has a manual and a little experience.
