Re: Zakspeed Turbo Capri 1/12 Scratch
Christian, try giving your molds a dusting of talcum powder before pouring any resin. Shake out and blow off all the excess to leave a very fine film of talc. This has the effect of breaking the surface tension of the resin and prevents any bubbles trapping or sticking to the surface of the mold. It also helps draw the resin into any fine detail. You can pretty much eliminate all bubbles with this method.

Re: Zakspeed Turbo Capri 1/12 Scratch
Hello,
some improvements made. The first version had a wall thickness of round about 4-5mm. Way too much! Now i got about 2-3mm at the doors and the roof. Much better! Now i´m working at the under floor. Christian |

Re: Zakspeed Turbo Capri 1/12 Scratch
Thanks Mike!
Today i began to build the front grill with the head lights. The glasses are from a porsche 935. When the grill is ready,i will cast them with silicon. I also try to cast the clear glasses with clear resin,Didn't know if it work? We will see. Christian |

Re: Zakspeed Turbo Capri 1/12 Scratch
Hey guys, here are some pics from the rear lights.
So they look like when they come out of the mold.Everything a bit cloudy. So i polished the right one in a rush.Looks a bit better. So i colored the glasses with tamiya clear and it's nearly ok,i think. Here they are at there place onto the car.looks good.Maybe i need to invest more time into the polish step and use some wet paper before the tamiya polish gel. The front glasses are not really good! This is looking nearly that what it should be.Even when there is a big bubble,it looks like a glass. But the other ones i have made are far away from what it should be! But the second bunch is casted and i changed the way i have done it at the first. So i hope the second ones getting better. I know that this sort of cast is not the easiest one and i will get a lot of parts for the trash bag. But i dont know how i can make it better? I must use a 2 piece mold because of the fine structure inside the glass. So i can't use the good stuff that curse with uv light. I will take a look tomorrow and hope it look's a bit better than this shot. Christian |

Re: Zakspeed Turbo Capri 1/12 Scratch
Hiho,
before santa is coming to town,i got a small update on the capri. The underfloor was made with plastic sheets in 2,5mm. I tried to build up the diffuser and some small details too. The front was made of ureol parts in 2mm thickness. That stuff is better for sanding and cutting.I closed the box between the front tires because its a curbside build. Here is a close shot of the diffuser. A lot of work must be done until the rear tires fits better under the rear fenders. The door needs some re-shape for the door knob.He was on the wrong place, but now its changed. I hope i can spend more time to the capri in the next weeks. So there will be more updates coming.
