Re: ModellingMaster.com - transkits, photo-etched and decals

Waow thanks for sharing these pics and the link !!

I think we may have an answer. It seems that's it's not only a safari / not safari question but a 92 or 93 question !!
All the 92 cars seem to have your PE fuel tank design whereas 93 cars seem to have the Tamiya part fuel tank design, even if it's not exactly the part visible in non safari cars, and as safari cars had a fuel fill through the rear wing I suppose the tamiya part is correct for Safari version (92 or 93) but not for other 93 events.
If I'm correct that would mean than we don't have the perfectly accurate part to build the 93 MC fuel tank, but tamiya would be the closest one in this case.
The PE part is perfect for any 92 version except safari.

That's my conclusion, but it's not sure !!

K AM 7562 (last pic) is a 92 car and it's the one Jonsson drove to victory the following year in Sweden.

K AM 9821 is a 92 car judging by the livery but I can't identify the rally (registration is closer to 93 registrations) and I'm so wondering if it's not a replica car or an historic event picture as we see a Porsche Rothmans service van in the background whereas no Rothmans Porsche drove in 92...
that could explain the strange registration on a 92 car. In fact it's probably a 93 original car rebuild with 92 Sainz livery.

But nothing is 100% sure.

I will build my 92 MC car with your PE fuel tank for sure, and probably my 93 MC and Safari with tamiya part if no more information till I build them.

Re: ModellingMaster.com - transkits, photo-etched and decals

My friend now makes a version '93. We agree that the tank should be done as in the photo 93, i.e. half of that in Tamiya:

Yes I also think it's right, that's the most logical from all the pics we can find, tamiya part is only Safari fuel tank and the above pic is the correct fuel tank for 93 season except safari.
then your PE part is 92 season fuel tank except safari.
Soooo we got it finaly !

Re: ModellingMaster.com - transkits, photo-etched and decals

Hi guys.
What do you think about this legendary car?

I wanted to build model using a set of Heller. But I realized that the kit can not be used for assembly. Included body in my kit was totally unsuitable.

And I thought about a small Transkit for Tamiya. Body with wide fender, the rear window shelf, extra fuel tank.
What do you think it will be interesting? What additional parts to add to the set?

Re: ModellingMaster.com - transkits, photo-etched and decals

Don't want to put you off but it has been done already by ScaleProduction.....

I don't know if it is still available though...

If you're looking for subjects, can I suggest a decent transkit for the 205 T16 Evolution ? With proper spaceframe rear, and updated mechanicals etc...

Regards

David

David, SP made the "bubble fenders" version, Roman is talking about the "pagode fenders" version.

Roman,
I think such Transkit will get a lot of success, there are here in France a lot of fans who would be happy to find a good model of this car strangely forgotten by tamiya whereas they had a good base with the 1300 kit.
A '73 Corsica version will be very attractive, count with me to get one and try to find some customers !!

Re: ModellingMaster.com - transkits, photo-etched and decals

Best of luck Roman, I would love to see you do it! Maybe I could get a set of wheels for this one I did 6 or 7 years ago. Tamiya kit with Museum Collection decals.

But you know which French rally car I would prefer you to do first....

Cheers, Don

Re: ModellingMaster.com - transkits, photo-etched and decals

I'm interested in the Alpine bits. The fuel tank and other interior modifications are missing from every kit I think.
The E30 M3 would be great as well.

Re: ModellingMaster.com - transkits, photo-etched and decals

The M3 has been done by Renaissance, not sure it would be the most interesting for the brand (??) not forgetting they have to catch customers interest and sell their kits

Personaly, I think that if you want to sell a complete kit or a detailed transkit costing more than 100 euros (today average price) yopu have to bring something new.
The M3 may get a lot of interest, but IMHO many fans already bought the Renaissance kit or the fujimi one...

Roman,
I've just thought that one interesting thing to add to the set may be the optionnal parts and decals for an african race version, The A110 raced in morocco, in Kenya, Ivory Coast... The african version stuff is always nice and gives a particular model.
Some more engine details missing in the tamiya kit would also be cool.
