Re: Pro Touring Camaro of a different ......size?
c'mon guys. No one interested in this? I've officially named this G-Force 12. A little insight as to where my reference is coming from. I've gotten a lot of help from a fellow named Scott Gulbranson. He is the owner/operator of www.lateral-g.net He is a real stand up guy! More than willing to help. There have also been a few other people on that board that have been able to provide me with excellent reference shots. I've also piqued the interest of someone at Popular Hot Rodding magazine. It was simply for the hometown hot rodding section. But we will see what happens when the car is finished.
I think that I have finally found a solution for the sleeves for my wheels. My girlfriends brother works at a machine shop and does a lot of CAD programming. All I've got to do is come up with a picture and some overall dimensions and he said that he would be happy to machine my sleeves for me. please, leave any Comments and Criticism!

Re: Pro Touring Camaro of a different ......size?
here is a small update. I managed to get some heads cast. so it is beginning to look like an engine. I had to pick up some more brass tubing yesterday so I could continue on with the four link and the intake. I am going to the lake this weekend so progress will halt after tomorrow afternoon. but stay tuned and keep the comments rolling!

Re: Pro Touring Camaro of a different ......size?
Alright, somewhat of an update....ITS WHEELS!!!! well...kind of. lol. I got my aluminum ordered. I finished playing around with the offset and here are the wheel dimensions
Rear 11x20 with 5.2" of offset Front 8.5x20 with 2.25 inches of offset My girlfriends brother is going to be writing the CAD program and machining the wheels for me. After I receive the sleeves, I'll be getting back to this, cleaning up all 4 wheel blanks and getting them mounted on the sleeves and beginning on the tires. on a side note, I've heard talk here and there of machining pieces by hand. If anyone can shed some light on this, please share! If you'd like to explain in an e-mail send it to, r_d_butler@sbcglobal.net

Re: Pro Touring Camaro of a different ......size?
Hi! I'm in the middle of doing my custom rims.
the process looked like this: -wheel "dishes" were machined on a lathe out of a 30mm aluminum tube, 2mm thick wall. -polished Then I had my brother make me in a CAD programm the outlines of the spokes, printed them out on sticker paper, and stuck to a 2mm thick piece of styrene. Next I cut some of it out with a dremel like tool. then I took 80 grit paper, until the spokes were looking not so bad. after finishing the spokes off with 1000 grit paper I glued a ring on the outside of it. A little more high grit paper and it comes out something like this: The dishes: Now I have to replicate the spokes with resin. It's probably a quite different way than you plan to make your rims, but maybe it will be helpful. Cheerz. |

Rock and roll. I am a big fan of this build. I just don't post much because I don't want to post whore, and I've not much to say other than "excellent" and "keep it up!"

Re: Pro Touring Camaro of a different ......size?
thanks guys. modeltech, if you ever have any questions just shoot me a pm and I'll see what I can do. no word yet on my sleeves. I've lost interest in this thing for now. Hopefully once my giant chunk of aluminum is turned down to some shiny little cylinders I'll get crackin again

Re: Pro Touring Camaro of a different ......size?
well I finally eclipsed the century mark with replies. There was a set back on the wheels. My machinist forgot to reset the depth when he was machining the front wheels. So he is having to remachine them. I should have them Sunday. I am so excited I can hardly wait! I will have pictures of the sleeves, sleeves with centers, and mock ups as soon as I can get them in the door. lol

Re: Pro Touring Camaro of a different ......size?
alright. With the new computer up and running, it is time to get back on some of these projects I've got going. I've piddled around with this a little bit. All of the lights are mounted, as is the rear bumper and spoiler. I begain work on the intake. I will not be doing the harrop intake that I had planned. Instead I will be going with a sheetmetal type intake. Still no word from my machinist on the wheels.
money shot nice back end Going for the modern blacked out trim Here is where I am at on the intake. I have the main body complete. All it needs is some filler work here and there. I will do one runner and then throw it in the mix to be cast that way each of them is identical, eliminating any problems. I will also make some flanges that will mount to the head. There is no need for a valley cover built into the manifold, as the LSx series has its own. And naturally there will be fuel rails and plenty of plumbing.
