I would like to point out that the msrp of a si is about $6000 more than a ZX2 of the same year (2000) and has roughly the same performance as far as accelleration, according to http://www.albeedigital.com/supercou...0-60times.html So given the same ammount of money, a ZX2 owner could spend the $6000 dollars he saved on his vehicial and bore out his engine, add a turbo, N20, Racing heads, new intake/exhaust, etc... But I am sorry, the owners of Si's are most likely the children of rich parents who dont have to spend a dime on anything they own. So from an outside perspective, it is cheaper to be a rich kid and have your si handed to you handed to you. |

Re: ZX2 Performance?
jesus 7 pages of busting on one guy for talking smack about zx2's..... why the hell aint there 10?
the only sad part about all this is the zx2 is no longer in production. i think with more styling the zx2 could have become like the nova ( you know how novas always followed its "big brother" chevelle in styling) that would have been cool if they took some styling from last years of the fox body mustang.

Re: ZX2 Performance?
thats kinda what i was thinking like the 99 svt. you gotta admit those cars started to get some atitude compared the the earlier 94-95 years. im not saying they should have done a total redesign, but the rear end on the zx2 looks weak compared to the front (on the 03 models). perhaps its something about the rear bumper and wing. i mean the wing is weak if ford dropped the rear bumper(i mean extended) to line up with the lines down the side, i think the car could look a little meaner. if i were to put a body kit on mine it would probibly just be sideskirts and a rear bumper so the car flows the whole way back instead of kicking up in a slant at the rear. even if the bumper were extended enough to cover the spare upside-down dome.... what ever you want to call that.
the rear is actually the only problem i have with the car, im defonitly changing the wing, mostly because it just looks sad, but the old boss mustang wings, they werent too much show, and it wouldnt give the car the ricer look. the hard part is i want to make it look more agressive in the back, but i just cant think of anything.

Re: ZX2 Performance?
I have a few aftermarket parts on my spi, only like 140hp though...
Anyway, does anyone know where to get a good exhaust manifold gasket? My old one sprung a major leak and now it sounds like fart cannon. |

Re: ZX2 Performance?
I just raced a Honda Accord that was modded. I dont know what he had but definitely exhaust and intake, body kit and custom gauges inside. We were at a turn signal and I was ahead, took off uphill and it took him till 75mph to pull up to me. I had a car length lead when we took off and I spun tires too (bald) or I would have had more of a lead.
Considering my ZX2 is bone stock, with bald tires and I shifted at 6000 rpm to his (probably) 8000 I would say the ZX2 is a freakin Honda KILLER. It took him ages to even catch up a one car length lead. Unless there is some SERIOUS money put in to a Honda they really suck. Ford and other american carmakers know that as Carroll Shelby put it "Horsepower sells cars, torque wins races". I would have loved to have seen the horrified look on his face. |
