Re: 2000 3.8-Neutral SftySw-Is this the shaft?
kafkacell and WindstarMommy, I don't think you're talking about the same oil leak. Kafkacell, you seem to talk about the oil leak of Mark Gober's friend's taurus in 2nd pic.
WindstarMommy, there's ways to find out if it's leaking trans fluid or engine oil. You can either clean off the leak, put a dye in engine oil and see the leak later with an UV light, if it's engine oil you will see the dye in the leak. That's the professional way. The simpler way: touch a drop of the leaky oil with your finger and feel the viscosity, smell the oil and check the color. If it smells very strong and bad, it's not that viscous, and it's a little bit red (could also be brown/black) it's trand fluid. If it smells dirty oil (softer smell) and it's very viscous, it's engine oil. You can smell your actual trans fluid and oil to compare.

Wow my bad... I was reading WindstarMommy and thought she was gonna put pictures of the process too. But Mark did. But in any case mommy should check for leaks in that particular point.

Thanks, again kafkacell! I was going crazeeeee trying to see in my photos that leak...LOL! Whew! The pics that I did put up were in links. I am not that skilled to put up actual pics on the posts yet. I went out this morning and unplugged the cable to the TRS and plugged it back in. The check engine light disappeared but I haven't driven her yet. The saga continues... |
