Re: Just a random Question???

Also the idling issue didnt start until i sprayed throttle body cleaner into the TB . It was still on the car if that makes any diffrience.

Re: Just a random Question???

Throttle body clean should ideally be used off the car, but it won't do any damage. I y I would recommend pulling it off next time though.

So when you put your hand over the TB, the idle went down to normal? But as soon as you took it off the idle went back up high?

Firstly, check your throttle cable. If you look on the throttle body where the cable connects to, it goes to the intake manifold and has 2 bolts (10mm) holding it on. Between that mount and the throttlebody, there should be some slack. You should be able to press down on it and have the cable move just a little. If there is already tension on it, as if it's holding the flapper open a little, loosen the 2 bolts and move the cable so there is some slack.

If that's fine, check on the throttle body. Some have this and some don't... where the throttle cable connects to the TB, there's a metal 'lip' coming up. When the throttle is closed, it rests on the actual TB (the stopper). Check to see if there's a hex bolt or something in the stopper that's pushed out (would be going toward the drivers side). That stopper, if pushed out too far, will keep the flapper inside the TB open at idle.

Also too now that I think about it, try taking some soapy water in a spray bottle and when the engine is running, spray some around the TB/IM gasket and see if it bubbles. If that gasket is blown or falling apart, it can cause weird idle issues as well.

I know that last one sounds a little weird so if you need pics I'll get some.

Re: Just a random Question???

He's non-turbo, so a boost leak test is not really possible. Also, the TPS on the 420a is non-adjustable.

Re: Just a random Question???

OK so the stopper bolt is screwed all the way in. There is some slack in the throttle cable but that stopper screw is all the way to the right lookin from the top.

Re: Just a random Question???

So it's sticking out toward the drivers side then, correct? Try backing it out. I just looked at my bolt and it's all the way out where the metal piece is resting on the TB itself, not the screw.

I would also recommend to disconnect the battery for a couple minutes before you start the car after doing this. This will allow the ECU to check the TPS to see where the position is and then adjust the IAC.

Re: Just a random Question???

Good News its idling perfect. I sprayed soapy water around the TB and it was just sucking it all in so i took the TB off and half the gasket is missing so i cleand the rest off and put Silicone around it on both sides let it sit about 20 mins and its running like a charm!!!!!!!!

Congrats!
If the car is idling perfect like that and you haven't already done this, push the that stopper screw back out to where the flapper is sitting. This puts less strain on the cable.
