Re: Program Toyota Master Key
I have a 2001 Sequoia and followed these instructions and the key didn't take (I have a master key and am adding a duplicate)
Add Duplicate Key 1. Simultaneously depress and release brake and accelerator pedals 1 time. 2. Insert existing master key into the ignition. 3. Within 15 seconds depress and release accelerator pedal 5 times. 4. Within 20 seconds depress and release the brake pedal 6 times and remove key. 5. Within 10 seconds insert new key into ignition. 6. Within 10 seconds depress and release the accelerator pedal 1 time. 7. After 80 seconds new key is registered and security light goes off. 8. Remove new key and depress and release brake pedal 1 time. please send me instructions to pmcmurtry@aol.com thanks |

Re: Program Toyota Master Key
HI All,
I'm new to the forum, just bough a 1999 GS300. I was given 2 keys, one with the remote and another black one with no buttons. The car starts with both the keys but the remote buttons dont work. I have changed the battery the red light on the remote blinks but nothing happens, which made me think it needs reprogramming. Searching on the forum I came across many different programming techniques such as Driver door open other locked insert key lock/unlok 5 times close driver door than open again lock/unlock 5 times insert key, turn to on and remove the lock should cycle up till here no problems the doors do lock and unlock once but after that when I press the button on the key nothing happens. Tried it about 10 times so far with different combinations, pressing lock and unlock together, pressing lock, holding down lock and pressing unlock 5 times and so on. and now I need help of all you experts. Any help would be appreciated. nisheikh@gmail.com |

Re: Program Toyota Master Key
Does anyone have a pdf file (or?) they can email me for a 2004 Sequoia, transponder key programming. I have tried all the variations noted in this thread. The "security light", I am assuming, is the "key" light in the dash. I try programming and it just blinks on... and on.... and on...
The seller claims profusely that the key is the correct key, however, it can ONLY be programmed at a dealer (according to him). Before abandoning this key, does anyone have a pdf file they can email to; kurtayers@earthlink.net Thank you |

Re: Program Toyota Master Key
I'm also new to AF...
I live in the Toronto region. There is a guy who can 'flash' your ECU for new master keys if required. He has every type of key (toyota, nissan, honda, acura etc) and key fobs as well for unlock/lock/trunk etc depending on the model of car. I had only a grey 'valet' key and did not want to pay Toyota $1200 for a new ECU and $500 for new keys/fobs. Hope this helps for those living the GTA area...his rates are good. I was charged $200 for 2 new master keys, full reprogrammed ECU and 1 keyless fob. His contact is: Ali I specialize in complete Auto Locksmith Services , specialist in high security , transponder , chips , cut keys. Re: Program Toyota Master Key
My final answer to my 2004 Sequoia key reprogramming was not ebay, not finding the magic internal car process (which does NOT exist for a 2004), rather, find a decent locksmith.
After a LOT of flailing I said screw it and called 4 dealers; $150-280 for EACH key. I called a couple locksmiths who were a bit better. I finally found one who came to my home and programmed TWO (2) new keys for $130. I would have preferred to have found the magic process for having the vehicle program the keys but I could only stand the pain for so long. Apparently 2001-2002's have a procedure that works but not 2004. Oh well, it's a done deal for me. Enjoy, |

Re: Program Toyota Master Key
I am new to these forums and one of the myriads of people who regularly search forums for answers but without contributing questions or solutions. However, I was so annoyed at the tactics of Toyota in replacement keys that when I found what worked for my 2001 Sienna, I couldn't help but share it. The instructions were posted earlier:
Programming spare keys: for 1998 to 2002 1.. Copy the cuts of the original working key onto the appropriate transponder blank. 2.. Enter the car and close all of the doors. 3.. Simultaneously depress and release both the brake and accelerator pedals. 4.. Within five seconds, insert a working pre-programmed key into the ignition cylinder, and turn to the "on" position. 5.. Within fifteen seconds of turning the ignition, depress and release the accelerator pedal five times for a primary key. (Depress and release four times for a valet key.) 6.. Within twenty seconds, depress and release the brake pedal six times for a primary key. (Depress and release only times for a valet key.) 7.. Turn the ignition to the "off" position and immediately remove the key. 8.. Within ten seconds of removing the key, insert the new key and turn it to the "on" position. 9.. Within ten seconds, depress and release the accelerator pedal once. The security light will then flash for 60 seconds and then turn off. When the security light stops flashing the programming should be complete. 10.. Start the vehicle to verify that programming was successful. This worked for me on the second try. Steps 5&6 may be causing problems for others because I think that both steps need to be accomplished in 20 seconds rather than 15 or 20 seconds for each step. Keep trying - it worked for me. |

Re: Program Toyota Master Key
I bought two keys on ebay for $12 each and had them cut for $3 each. The dealer wanted $47 just to program up to three keys. I queried him on how to do it and though he told me they needed a scan tool, he later admited that the tool merely tells them the "pedal-pushing, key in and out" techniques. $47 for them to spend 5 minutes doing something that requires no technical ability.

Re: Program Toyota Master Key
I recently had to have a whole new key made for my 09 Toyota Camry after dropping it in the snow and unsucessfully looking for it for hours! After paying WAY to much to have a key made and programed, I found my keys. Now I have a fob that will lock and unlock my car but won't start it. I would be very gratefull if I could get in on the email with the PDF file that explains how to program my key.
Thank you in advance!! Sunclipse@aol.com |

Re: Program Toyota Master Key
I recently purchased a 2005 Sequoia. Dealer only had the valet key. Dealer said there was a problem with the ECM, it could not be reset to accept the new keys. Dealer wants to replace the ECM for $1000. I am looking for suggestions, don't want to give the dealer another $1000 just to get a new key!

Re: Program Toyota Master Key
I have searched the internet up and down many times for methods on programming the transponder to work with the immobilizer. I have tried many variations of the "pedal dance" and the opening and closing of the doors. I have a master key that works (black head) but cant seem to find a method to program the new key. I was able to successfully program the new key to unlock and lock the doors so it somewhat works. However I just can't program it to start the car. If anyone has a FSM for an 04 lexus es330 that may have this information could you please email it to me at matt_taraska@yahoo.com. I would greatly appreciate it. Also if anyone has any other methods or ideas let me know and I will give them a try as well.
