The buyer of the original auction has already left positive feedback though. Could be a scam all the way around, or it could be legit. Guess we'll never know. Just be careful with your money.

I saw the feedback and thought the seller and buyer might be in cahoots. But like you said, it could be legit.

Re: Most paid for a McLaren model

My bet it's a scam and having positive feedback on $5 items dosent really count. It's probably a friend of him who has "won" the auction.
Myself and several others have made it more difficult for him to scam people for a while and I'm willing to bet on that this userid is one he uses for creating some credibility so that he can do a $500 easy money scam again!

Okay, this is outrageous:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=5949886690

I hope no idiots bid on it, even if it is legit, because that is usually about the ending price, NOT the starting price.

Re: Most paid for a McLaren model

Is somebody interested in a blue 1/12 model? The same as Peleton showed and owns in the first part of this thread.

Here's how it turned out:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=6942261028

I took the risk and it turned out to be legit, even though I was warned about this seller. It arrived today, about an hour ago. Okay, I hate to admit it, but I paid a ridiculous amount as you can see, but I really wanted one badly and since this had the paypal buyer protection AND it was blue (a color I kinda like), I went for it. Also, I had recently acquired some cash from some relatives as a get well gift because of surgery I had. Anyways, thank god it was legit. It isn't exactly in mint condition but he did note the condition on the auction as "New". The only problems with it: the left side view mirror is a little loose. Other than that, it looks fine to me.

By the way, here's something interesting. I was just about to leave feedback, but I realized he is no longer a registered user, as you can tell by clicking here:

http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAP...inicarsandtoys

Should I leave feedback anyways? Any ideas why he quit? Or was he caught frauding someone else? I don't know. All I can say is I am happy I wasn't frauded and I finally got my 1:12 scale McLaren F1.

PS The color almost looks black. It is a very dark blue.

Which company made these 1:12 models of the Mclaren F1? Are they Paul's Model Art/Minichamps?

Sorry, I didn't look at the ebaY link, just the picture posted in the thread. I see it's Minichamps.

You paid a pretty high price for that blue one there, but don't worry about it.
It will become more and more rare through the years and I doubt it will ever fall in value.
I've sold a perfect blue for $750 one time to a japanese guy who wanted a perfect model!

Congrats with your purchase and youll probably spend hours just gazing at it within the next days

The only McLaren Diecasts that have been produced as new in the past few years have been some of the 1/43 scale Minichamps and the new Autobarn 1/43rds. Everything else has been out of production for at least 5 years and the second hand market is really the only place to get them. With the Minichamps that have been released recently, only a limited number are built and they sell out fast and then the price begins to rise. With the Autobarn's, they are produced in even smaller quantities (less than 100, sometimes only 25) and they are well over $200.00 when new and again the prices begin to rise once that initial run is bought up.

How can you tell it's a fake? The colour's wrong, but someone could've had it painted...?
