I am not digging up the post but you told me previously that you liked bare metal foil and several models on your old website are done that way.
Tom, regardless of what others do, flat photoetched window frames are not correct and not easy to work with. They look like stickers.

Foil or no foil (there are nice chrome paints nowadays that you can use if you don't like foil), but these window frames are 3D on real cars, they are not flat. And they are definitely not THIS wide, they are much thinner too. These PE parts look to be what, 1.5-2mm? That's almost 2 inches wide on a real car!

I'm sure its easier to make, and that is why its still being done that way. Its still a great kit and I will definitely get one as this is one of my favorite Ferraris. But accuracy is what makes scale models - "scale models".

Re: FPM resin 1/24th scale kits

The 1/24th FPPM Ferrari 250 Bertone is out and it is a work of art. He did supply photoetch for all windows but also molded in the frames for the windscreens so that you could use bare metal if you like. It has full chassis and motor detail and has some of the nicest hand laced wire wheels I have seen in a kit. Bumpers and rims are chrome plated.

FPPM are working on their first F1 1/20th kits, the pre war Mercedes and Auto Union. He posted photos of the hand laced wire wheels on his Facebook.

But the hood is molded closed. And it would be a real effort to open it since the top of the wheel wells are molded to the hood. The model, as you said, IS A WORK OF ART

Re: FPM resin 1/24th scale kits

Time for another FPPM update. Their next F1 1/24th model kit will be the Mercedes Benz W196 1954 envelope aero French GP winner. It will be full detail and out in a few months. His 1/24th Ferrari 312T4 1979 full detail kit is already out.

Not sure if anyone noticed but Hachette are running a newstand F1 1/24th diecast series in Italy right now. Here is a blog in Italy showing some of the models. These go with the 1/24th FPPM F1 models very well and are good enough to base a high detailed model from. Top quality diecasts.

And the Hachette F1 1/24 link. You can't order them unless you are in Italy. You can get them on ebay Italy.

Re: FPM resin 1/24th scale kits

FPPM says after he completes the Merc 1937 W125 and Ferrari 125 open wheel he will do the Alfa Romeo P3 all in 1/24th scale and the 125 in both 1/24th scale and 1/20th scale.

Re: FPM resin 1/24th scale kits

I have the FPPM 1/24th Alfa Romeo 12C and it is a stunner, maybe his best ever. The fit is very tight. He is now doing part of the kits printed, and the body resin. His research is better than almost anyone else, so this new form of making the master's is putting him ahead of almost everyone. The Maserati Indy cars will be very much something to look forward to.
