Re: Zakspeed Turbo Capri 1/12 Scratch
First parts are ready.
The roof..... Its a bit dirty, but it needs the finish sanding before i clean it. The hood is finished yet. A view from down under.I´m happy with the thickness of the hood. Its about 1,2-1,5mm thick and stable enough,i hope? Kind Regards Christian |

Re: Zakspeed Turbo Capri 1/12 Scratch
Hello!
That fibreglass cloth looks quite heavy compared to the really light tissues I've been using (and it's a smaller car), but the results look really good! There's some nice crisp edges there... Good stuff! SB |

Re: Zakspeed Turbo Capri 1/12 Scratch
Thanks!
For the negative moulds i use a heavy matt. But for the finished parts i use some with fine structures. But its not important because of they cant be seen after the assembley of the parts. |

Re: Zakspeed Turbo Capri 1/12 Scratch
Jeez, with your skills, you should be able to make me a full scale 1:1 body kit for my '64 Mini Minor into an Aston Martin DB9R
You're an absolute marvel at what you're doing. Genius even.... |

Re: Zakspeed Turbo Capri 1/12 Scratch
Hello,
and also a quick overview of the capri stuff i have done. A few weeks ago i recieved a package from a good friend from austria. He made a resin copy of the caterham engine with gearbox and small parts. Absolute amazing job! Many thanks to kurtl (aka elmodello) i also tried to make some resin parts. The rims are from two different cars. Front rims from the porsche 934.I can use them without modifications. The back wheels are from the porsche 935.But them need some work done before i can use it.The porsche 935 had the wrong design. The capri needs bbs wheels,so i cut the center out of the porsche wheels and made some resin copys. Than i bought some spareparts of the porsche 934 and use the bbs inlets for the bigger 935 wheels. I also must made some resin tyres, becaus the porsche 934 hat profil tyres and the capri needs slicks. Thats all at the moment. Christian |

Re: Zakspeed Turbo Capri 1/12 Scratch
Mhmm.....good question?
I dont even think about it,to make the tires with real rubber. I thought that the car will get real heavy with all the resin and stuff. I will take a look at there products and maybe i will change my discission? Thanks Guys! |

Re: Zakspeed Turbo Capri 1/12 Scratch
Nothing beats the texture and look of real rubber.
It's also easy to work with too! Just stick some on the end of a bench drill, and shape it with various grades of glass/sand paper. May take a while to get the hang of it, but with your skills, I doubt it.... You'll be so glad you did. |
