Disconnect safely probably not. The problem is the wheel sensors are not only used for the ABS braking system but for the traction control system and the tire pressure monitor system. If you can figured out a way to do it let us all know. Good luck!

Re: ALERO OWNERS Anyone have anti lock and off trac light on at same time?

I've pulled fuses. There are four. One is a 40A main, one a relay and two small ones 10A to battery/ign. When I pull them everything seems to work fine, but then the other Red Brake lights come on tat may tell you of other problems. I gave up and put them all back.

Re: ALERO OWNERS Anyone have anti lock and off trac light on at same time?

I just had the second wheel hub replaced yesterday on a 2004 with 48k. A local garage did each for about 250.00, so I am more fortunate than most

GM has had the problem since the car was introduced. To NOT have fixed the issue is highly negligent on the part of the company. Is it any wonder people are switching to Japanese cars? We have owned seven new GM autos. This one is likely the last one.

I don't know if the grass is greener on the other side of the hill but Japanese cars have their fair share of problems too. Case in point my neighbor bought their Acura back in 2002 which is the same time we purchased our 2002 Alero. He's been through one transmission and it was down for a week. I still have the original tranny and it still runs like a champ. I'm quite sure he paid more for his Acura than we did for our Alero. Just my two cents.

Yes, both of my lights came on. I had bad bearing on the front of the car. $600 repair. Ouch!

If you have service engine light on, trac. off light and the ABS light on the same time, you may be able to get it fixed my reprogramming the power control module (with updated software calibration). Mine was fixed for free at a dealer under a recall campaign when GM called me yesterday.
