Re: Why are these Z32 so cold natured?
Never heard of a coldstart valve on Fuel injected cars before....... maybe by a different name but I doubt it. On the other hand.... I have been looking around for that sensor and no luck finding it, BUT I did find out it maybe part of the MAF unit. Also some guy on the 300ZXclub forums was talking about the same problem a while back (Did a search on the subject) and he said it was a problem with his MAF.... some extra sensor tied into the MAF that takes the place of the Intake air temp sensor.... wether or not he was full of crap is a different story. But he said he replaced the unit and it fired up no problems...... Meanwhile same forum another guy was saying it was his ECT that was acting up, more to the point his wiring to his ECT that was faulty. He fixed the wiring and the problem went away.
I will continue to look to see what else I can turn up. |

see....i always wondered that about the MAF sensor...i think me and you (hodo) discussed that before. the ECT sensor or wiring seems to make alot more sense though. i think i shall test my wiring tomorrow. hopefully i can get an answer for some of you guys. it seems it may be a fairly common problem. i have seen a lot of people discuss it.

Re: Why are these Z32 so cold natured?
OK!!! Got DAMN tired of trying to get it started so I had my uncle hook up to the hooks under the rear bumper got up about 4 miles an hour in my GRAVEL drive, popped the clutch and it fired right up. Not the first problem starting since. WTF??????????? AutoZone has these plug in dipsticks that keep the engine warm for 10 bucks. Think I'll try that

Re: Why are these Z32 so cold natured?
Still nothing new, All I have been able to find has hinted that there maybe a IAT sensor as part of the MAFs functions. Some web sites have said that it is a common problem on some Z32s but not all, most cases its a wiring fault or equiptment failure do to time and milage. No clue.... will keep looking.

i dunno about you guys, but my zed owns the cold.... sat all weekend... no block heater... no outside heating of any sort, monday morning... was sitting around -22 celcius... got in the car, turned the key... fired up in half a second not to gloat or anything...

yeah my z31 fires right up every time. well not right now, transmission is out of it. kinda makes my z32 look like a piece of shit.
i dont have very good look with transmission's. thats 2 z's and i had to replace both tranny's. WTF is up with that??? well i didnt expect much out the z31 but the z32 pissed me off.
