Re: Question about air filter?

Don't forget that the supercharger makes a big change in how well things work. If you both have normally aspirated engines, funrunner's experience is more applicable to your vehicle than Gadget's.

Then again, it may depend on the phase of the moon.

As far as fuel economy is concerned, I read on someone's website that he used a fuel atomizer and it increased his gas mileage. It is a universal application. Go to http://www.agsint.com/atom.shl. It attaches to your fuel return line and injectes atomized fuel to your intake, using a hose that goes to where your pcv valve was attached. Go to the website for more details, it's interesting. The website claims that a 2003 4runner v6 increased its mpg from 19 to 25, a 32% increase. Let me know if you think it would work. I might try it.

Re: Question about air filter?

Just looking at the website photos it looks poorly made.If it really worked why wouldn't it be more mainstream. That other gadget the uh "Tornado" or whatever its supposed to spin the air going into the air gas mixture creating a better mix....WHAT A CROCK! i have been trying to find some reviews on this fuel atomizer...i let you know what i find

Funrunner and Brian check this site out about the fuel atomizer. This person tested it on their 4runner.

Let me know what you think.

Re: Question about air filter?

I am not sure about that fuel atomizer. The results posted on the link posted above for YotaTech were with a supercharged 3.4L. They are known to run on the ragged edge of inadequate fuel delivery if you don't do something to increase the maximum possible fuel flow. It is easy to see (in the supercharged engine) where there would be a benefit from injecting additional fuel into the engine. This is better done with increasing the size of the injectors and the fuel flow capability. This is what Gadget did, along with a chip change in the computer.

All in all, I wouldn't use the fuel atomizer with either a supercharged or normally aspirated engine. Gadget has done alot of work to get his supercharged engine up tight on fuel delivery and I would follow his lead for a supercharged engine. For a normally aspirated engine, I would leave it alone. The fuel injection system is adequate for this application unless there is a problem with the fuel delivery because of a malfunction.

The installation of a trap before the PCV valve is an interesting idea, but it has nothing to do with fuel delivery. This may be worth trying.

Sorry I didn't make it clear guys, but I wanted to accomplish 2 things. Increase the hp and mpg. That is why I directed you to the fuel atomizer website that I stumbled across while researching mods people have done to their 4runners. Funrunner is a bit skeptical, but the people that have tried it said they experienced an increase in mpg, and they are not advertisers, just people explaining their mods. If I see more people say that it works, I might install it if it is easy enough. You might want to consider it, given the price of fuel today. Also, with the collection of the sludge (unburned hydrocarbons) it helps out the enissions.
