The GTO is supposed to be coming out this november or december. The only body modifications I've heard of for the '05 is the hood scoops which will resemble the scoops from the 1964 GTO.

Probably the only "major hp increase" will be the option of ram air for 05. So you'd probably see a ram air equipped GTO around 365 hp and 375 lbs of torque.

The question I have is are they ever going to offer the LS6 engine in it?

The engine itself will probably be a lot similar to the LS6. Hell some of the F-bodies in 02 came with the ls6 block but not all of the parts to give it "405 hp".

I don't care how mortgages you take out for it, nobody will ever have a 600whp Diamante.

I know that, but I think that since Corvette is not being built any more that Pontiac should take over that package. and put it in the GTO.......

I think that 415 hp would be bad ass in that car

The Corvette's not going away anytime soon. There's gonna be a new one for '05, and I think it's still using the 5.7L LS-series engine...

Don't quote me on this, But I heard somewhere on some website that the 2004 Corvette would have a 6-cylindar engine with something like 300 HP. I myself doubt they will put a V-6 in the new Vette, but it's just what I read...

Thats not looking anywhere near true. First the 04' is already released...Same bodystyle and all. The Z06 gets a newer suspension, and everything else, except one decal looking paint job to celebrate the C5-R's victories, is the same.

As far as 05'? Ive heard nothing BUT good things. Rumors from some of GM's top guys about better horsepower, AND better handling. Ive heard anywhere from 400-500 HP...and thats BEFORE the new body's "ZO6" or any other upgraded version is even released. Dont look for a V-6 anytime soon in the Vette

I had doubts that there would be a V6 Corvette, but it is good to hear the real truth. I wanna see Corvette's competing with European supercars, as Dodge is trying to do with the Viper.

Yeah that thing has tremendous power. 500hp stock jesus christ....

Of course it's still a rumor but there is a lot of information hinting that the C6 Vette is going to use a 6.0l V8 based off of that Cadillac V16.

That would be great for the Corvette to use a 6.0 liter. If a 6.0 can make a Mustang kinda cool, imagine what it can do for a Vette.

GM already has a 6.0 litre small block lyin around - the Vortec 6.0 in the big trucks and the Escalade. They could easily hop that up with a cam, heads, intake, and exhaust for the Corvette, way on the cheap side of engineering and development.

Sounds good. What kind of horsepower would we be looking at here.

Well, they're getting 405hp out of 5.7L, so with a little math, we can roughly guess 430hp, but I'm willing to bet that they'll find at least 450hp in there. They've had a lot of time to develop a whole lotta engine, so I wouldn't be suprised if they had 400hp in a regular vette and at least 450hp in a Z06.

Although Vortec makes good engines I don't think the stuff is comparable to what they did with those LS1's and LS6. It's a lot more basic then those engines are I don't think the 6.0L V8 would be enough performance oriented for the Corvette. For example Vortec has a 350 V8 that they make and it's no where near the level of an LS1.
