Re: Rear suspension noise 2006 Montana SV6
I have a '98 Montana that clunks all the time. I've replaced the obvious things but now I can take a look at this. Thanks.

Re: Rear suspension noise 2006 Montana SV6
So Bruicer, when you changed the shocks, what bolts did you use to mount the new ones. I changed shocks on my Montana ('98 with air compressor and level adjust in back) and I had to cut the old bolts out. I put in some new bolts and got constant clunking because the bolts were not tight in their holes. I had to find the correct size bolts and that fixed it.

Re: Rear suspension noise 2006 Montana SV6
Thanks Guys for all the replies,
I would like commend gmtech1 he was right it was in fact my axle support bushings i went to about 5 Garages and none of them could tell me what was going on so because 4 out of 5 shops said shocks went ahead and changed them which turned out not the problem the 5th shop i ordered him to drop the axle for inspection as he did as per my request we found out that it had lots of play that couldn't be seen when left in so today i went back and changed both sides to save money down the road at a cost of $460 Canadian... 2 bushings Gm most of the money was labor of course..lol.. part# 15829134 x2 and Monroe shock# 37156 x2 hope this can help out other Montana SV6/Uplander owner Thanks again... |

Mine was the emergency brake cable laying on reaxle. Rubber stopper wears through. Just need to re-wrap it. Noise gone!
