Re: Tamiya Brabham BT44b 1/12
Martini design rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i decided to kick Carlos out of the car and put Carlos into it. Carlos Reutemann is out and Carlos Pace is in. The decals are great to work with. The hole build is pure fun,no comparison to my resin builds before. regards Christian |

Re: Tamiya Brabham BT44b 1/12
First parts are clearcoated with Zero Paint 2k clearcoat.Works fine.
But i am thinking about to use a semi-gloss clearcoat the next time. The gloss coat is so shiny, maybe too much shine? What do you guys mean? Too shiny for a race car? I made a mistake when i colored the alu part behind the driver. The tape pulled of a bigger part from the martini stripes and from the start number.I tryed to repair it,but now i got a small bubble under the white start number.  I will show a pic from that mistake the next time. :? :? First parts are put in place. The front dampers are in place now. regards Christian |

Re: Tamiya Brabham BT44b 1/12
Chris - did you see the posting in the "completed projects" back around June 2012 that was done by Daniel?? he did a BT44 that came out really nice.
You should see if you can find it and get a look at the pictures Cheers John |

Chris - when I get a chance tomorrow I will look on some storage hard drives I have - I might have a copy of the pictures on one of them.
Cheers John |

Race cars should not be shiny. Just my opinion...

Re: Tamiya Brabham BT44b 1/12
Hello,
proof of life from my Brabham. Here you can see the mistake with the decals. But now its ok. In the meantime i made the front brake stuff and some suspension parts. Some work to do before i can put the chassis together. regards Christian With the next model i will give the Zero Paint semi-gloss clearcoat a try. Thanks to ianc for that hint! |

Thanks for your comments!
The main chassis was glued in place and the fire extinguisher and the pedals are on the right place. More progress soon. Christian |

Re: Tamiya Brabham BT44b 1/12
Really nice Chris - it's too bad the details you put into the pedals will not be easily visible as you continue on with this build.
But I know that you still do it because you will know that the details are there. I have discovered that about certain build masters on this forum. Oh by the way Chris - if you have the "zero" 2K gloss and the "zero" 2K matt - you can mix them to get the desired semi-gloss you want. if you only have the 2K gloss, then I suggest you buy the "zero" 2K matt. That way you will able to have gloss / semi-gloss and matt and only have to stock two products because the "zero" hardener (catalyst) and the thinner (reducer) is the same for all of them. I am really enjoying following this build of yours Chris - and learning much. Bravo so far John |

Re: Tamiya Brabham BT44b 1/12
Thanks for the replay John!
At the moment i only got the gloss clear coat from zero. But this is going to the end,so i will choose the semi gloss one for my next project. I will use them on a spare body and will see how this looks at the end. With the pedals its just like you said. Its there and i know it.That counts for me. Thanks! |

Re: Tamiya Brabham BT44b 1/12
I continued with the exhaust system.I find it always hard to put all these pipes together. This time it was not so hard.I got it now without any big gaps and it fits very well.
Have to prime it and color it and put some pe parts on his place. Smaller parts are primed and colored so far.I will try to finish the color work this week.So i can concentrate on the small detail work and got the next project in mind already. regards Christian |

Re: Tamiya Brabham BT44b 1/12
Today was wedding day for the engine and chassis.
After a short break where i started ,in my mind, the next project i found some time for the brabham. Now i will finish it in the next weeks before i start with the big snake. regards Christian |
