Re: Supra TT, Corvette Z06, VR-4 Spyder, NSX, or Elise?

hmm, tough choice alot of great cars here. but in order id pick

1. supra tt:
pros:its rare, has alot of potential, looks stunning imo, and it has toyota reliability. plus maybe im a little biased.
cons: some dont like the looks, a bit on the portly side.
2. nsx:
pros: ever rarer than the supra, has prolly the best looks of the group, and is a great track car.
cons: least powerful, most expensive.
3. elise:
pros: also a great looking car, a track monster, toyota reliability, good gas mileage for such a fast car.
cons: lacks all the luxuries many drivers prefer, some dont like the high revving nature ot toyotas 2zzge engine.
4. corvette:
pros: a good all around car, bargain price, nice looks, good preformance.
cons: old man retirement mobile, too common, least refined.
5. 3000gt:
pros: awd, good looks, fairly cheap. good preformance.
cons: unreliable, convertible, non-convertible modles are the most common car on the list, very heavy.

any of these cars would be a damn fine choice though.

^ the elise is reliable? News to me. I thought it was the worst because its safty/reliability standards arnt the same as the usa.

Re: Supra TT, Corvette Z06, VR-4 Spyder, NSX, or Elise?

i'd definitly get the NSX or the Z06 also. but i'd lean more towards the NSX since its more of a classic. the C5 Z06 seems to be living in the C6 Z06's shadow. but if you have a NSX it will always be the NSX.

plus you can turn your RX-7 into a rocket, and leave the NSX as the mild manner car. but it doesn't take much to make a NSX very very fast. when nissanfanatic went to his local track, there was a turbo charged nsx running low boost ( 7 psi ) and it ran 11's @ 127mph.

a nsx with 250whp will trap 110mph. so food for thought.

Okay, according to the poll so far the NSX is getting the most votes (3). The Supra and Corvette are tied with 2. The Elise is close behind (1) and no-one has voted for the VR-4 Spyder yet.

Re: Supra TT, Corvette Z06, VR-4 Spyder, NSX, or Elise?

i always find it hard to say no to an NSX.
a bit pricey but don't forget that it was more or less a hand built car and you don't get many of them to the pound.

if it was a question of getting a car purely for fun then it has to be the elise because in reality, no one can really live with having to mambo into the seat and then twist your knee and dislocate your hip to get out every day.
and trust me, i'm a small chinese guy and I have issues getting in and out.
if the car is going to see semi-day to day use, then if you are even thinking about an elise, you'd still be better off with the NSX. It does everything the Elise can do but with more power. Slightly snappier rear end but most people never find the limits of the rear, especially with the updated suspension of the facelifted models, unless you deliberately go looking.

if it weren't a ZO6, i'd have voted for the NSX pretty easily. but the C5 ZO6, even if it is in the shadows of the C6 ZO6, is still one hell of a performer, not to mention a bargain. doesn't have the finesse or refinement of the nsx, but for pure brute muscle, you can't beat it.

I guess I'll stick up for the VR4 Spyder. lol The Spyder is a hefty guy weighing 4000lbs but it is a fav of mine. Its also very rare as most of them are. In fact I see an Elise more often than a VR4 spyder. But I like all of them but would probably have to go with a NSX just due to its track performance and good looks.

well, the engine is toyota so its reliable. idk about the rest of the car but i wouldnt imagine too many problems as it is pretty simplistic and to the point, no fancy electronics or anything. i never said it was safe though lol.

Why does everyone keep saying that the NSX is the least powerful?
NSX: 270-290hp (depending on the year)
Elise 111R: 189hp

Praise of the NSX by those that know more then us-

"If you want to argue that The Best Car in the World is a supercar, go ahead. But there is only one that makes the grade. Only one that's built properly. Gordon Murray knows. Rowan Atkinson knows. It's the Honda NSX. "
-Jeremy Clarkson

"Back in the early 90’s, my everyday transport for six years was a Honda NSX... Honda gave the world its first practical, well made, rear mid-engined supercar... The NSX had good torsional rigidity, lightweight forged aluminum suspension, clever subframes for ride compliance, and fit and finish good enough to make other manufactures weep into their quality manuals... the 430 is a milestone in the history of the sports car, certainly the best car Ferrari has made. It also owes some of its success to the humble NSX – another sports car with a secure place in automotive history."
-Gordon Murray (F1 Car designer for Brabham and McLaren-Honda, McLaren F1 head designer, EVO magazine writer)

Re: Supra TT, Corvette Z06, VR-4 Spyder, NSX, or Elise?

for those saying hte nsx is not fast enough straightline. look at this video of a 270hp nsx with very little bolt ons running thru its first 2 gears ( 2nd takes you to almost 100mph ) this proves my point that it takes very very little power to make a nsx very quick in a straightline.

if i raced this nsx it would definitly beat me.

^As I said, I don't know too much about the NSX, but I like the one in the picture with the pop-up headlights.

Re: Supra TT, Corvette Z06, VR-4 Spyder, NSX, or Elise?

i voted for the elise because it's just as quick, if not quicker, than the c5 and nsx in performance, and you see a lot more nsx's and c5's around than lotus elises. plus i'm sure the elise is a lot more fun to drive than the other cars being so light and it handles better too. so for versatility, rarity, and performance, that's my vote.
