Re: dropped pan, only go 4.5 liters fluid?

The fluid exchange method flushes the old fluid out of the torque converter and the rest of the system.
You can have this done at many oil change places or do it yourself by following the method that I show in the pictures that the link in my signature takes you to.
There is NOT a plug in the torque converter on the windstar transmission that would enable you to drain it......so the fluid exchange method is the way that you need to do this.

Re: dropped pan, only go 4.5 liters fluid?

I use a fluid suction pump (LiquidVac) which I get about 6.5-7 qts of trans fluid out. I do this every 2 years (about 15,000 miles). Dropping the pan is a snap because all of the fluid is sucked out of the pan- no mess.

Hello

Just to add my with a bit of history. My 58 Plymouth's torque converter is bolted together and has a drain plug. I'm sure that it cost much less to put all of the parts in and run a bead of weld around.

Regards

Dan
