How about an update on the Skyline's progress and recent results?

We have been working hard on preparing the car for the 2006 World Challenge Season. We have done several test days with the R34N1 and we are happy with the way it preformed.
The car has had several updates and changes to bring it to World Challenge Spec . If you are in the industry and make it out to the SEMA show in Las Vegas, look for the car there. The Automotiveforums.com R34N1 will be competeing in Modified Magazines Time Attack, and Super Street Magazines Time Attack. The first World Challenge race for us will be at Sebring, Florida in March 2006. |

I look forward to seeing you fellows at either Burke Lakefront or Mid-Ohio in 2006.
I will say this though, I do not envy Igor for having to hustle that damnable Nissan through Madness.

Crashes where the car is a write-off are rare in Speed World Challenge, honestly.
The best example would probably be the now-retired Realtime/Comptech Acura NSX. That car, the 3rd Acura NSX off the line, weathered 5 full seasons of SWC GT racing, even with bumping, banging, and a few crashes. In fact, Petey Cunningham often boasted that the car had the oldest right rear fender in Speed World Challenge competition. The car will probably require some bodywork eventually, the engine will have to be freshened regularly, and lord knows SWC cars can be abusive on their suspensions and brakes because of the mixed surfaces the cars run on and the demanding circuits they compete on. However, it's a little early, and a lot paranoid, to think of the car being a write-off in a crash. I'd be more concerned with the limited development abilities of the Automotive Forums team as compared to giants like Pratt & Miller (Caddy CTS-V's), 3R Racing (Viper Competition Coupes), or Farnbacher (Porsche 911GT3).

We have thought of many different possibilities and scenarios. A big crash is one thing we have thought about. We are fully prepared for a big crash. |

At the moment, there are no 2005+ Mustangs committed to the 2006 Speed World Challenge GT season that have been formally announced. The foremost Ford campaigning team - Hollfelder's Tiger Racing - will only run a limited 2006 campaign with their SN95 Mustang.
2006 is going to be another year of Corvette/Viper/Porsche wars UNLESS Cadillac returns with the CTS-V. However, it's been hinted that after their 2005 Championship run, the cars have been shelved.

Lou Gillottis Vette has run deep in the 10's @ 140 mph in the quarter. Do the math... its making a bit of power. The cars are restricted and weight added to equalize the series. |

http://www.world-challenge.com/2006/entrylist-gt.html Hope the Skyline is ready for a long season of mid-pack toiling Your team will learn a TON this year, so enjoy it and don't let the results get you down in your first season. It takes around 3+ years to be a contender in WC, even for the big factory backed teams. |
