Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread
Cold here no snow as of yet....
I dont think the pontiac 6000 is much of a performer but you might be able to find a few things to beaf it up, not realy worth the $$ IMO. Yeah daytona the OTT is a good read, when thiers nothing to do on a rainy day. Gobble Gobble!

No snow out here... actually it's rather warm out here now. I think we are in the 60's. I'm glad to see you like the off topic! It's a great place to be and get away from things! I do have to agree with Xi on the 2.5 in your 6000. It's not worth doing the work on it. I have a 2.5 in my 88 grand am and I wouldn't put the time into modding the engine. As far as performance goes, there is very little out there. I think I've found a different throttle body that's about it. Most mods for this engine is boring out and tweaking in those regards. If you feel so compelled you could make your own cold air intake and update the exhaust. Well Enjoy everyone!

Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread
Yeah Gir, Mr luos's TA is fast !!!!
Even with his short reaction times he won hands down. I liked the last race, I think it was an Olds or Pontiac 6000. I could possibly hold off his TA with the SE in the 1/8 mile, but after that, is when his power starts to hook up with the pavement , then he'd run off for the win. anyone for a turkey sandwhich ?

Thiers a little more to it then just throwin it on. UI comes off, the whole battery relocation, Ram air comes off, a upper radiator hose needs changed, header heat shields are also in the way. I also need an adjustable FP regulator, and I'd realy like to install an intercooler so that requires bumper modifications inside. Once the snow is flying I wont be driving it untill spring so I'll have the winter to do some stuff! I just dont like not being able to get more the 6-8 psi tops. I'd like to start at 10psi and go up !! That would put it about 334ish (hope the trany holds) I did attempt to drill out the catalist in the GT the other night. Couldnt find a drill bit 24" so I fabed up a bit on a long wire. Drilled through the back half fine on most of the holes but then I cracked it reaching to the front piece. Cut it off and put on a high flo I picked up for $75 at a local muff shop. Its a little louder havnt noticed any more pick up , a waste of $70 if you ask me.

I remember seeing an adjustable FP reg somewhere... and I think they came in different chrome colors.... Guessing andysautosport.com but dunno... thats my first guess of where I saw one of those lol... FMIC? hmm... that would have to be some amazing pipe work lol unless you fitted the other end of the FMIC on the passenger side with the filter... You remember that turbo kit with the FMIC? .. they had it on the driver side.. both pipes .. top/bottom sorta setup AND TILTED BACK!!... very crouded if you ask me... you could do a loop around down the CAI slot to the FMIC and out the other side and/or back into the engine bay but dunno.. I dont know exactly if there would be any holes to travel up to and/or bolts to hold the piping lol lol you want a base of 10psi? and NOT break the tranny! ... mmmm... New Pistons? or up the engine's ratio higher? ... that way it'd be squishin more air in there.... Unlessss.... you got a spacer gasket to lower it and run more psi with a different pulley

Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread
PFYC had an adjustable FPR not a bad price either.
And getting the intercooler to fit will be the hardest part. It will suck from the pass side. It will run from the SC right through the front next to the radiator(since the battery will be gone). At least thats the plan in my head, as long as I can see it I can build it. This will help!

Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread
Oooo.... Tools... I like tools....
Ok so last night i saw something that I thought only exsisted in the internet world of jokes and funny pictures. I saw a guy riding a bicycle with a flat screen tv tied to the back of it. He can afford to buy his 42 inch flat screen but can't afford a car or better means of transporting this thing? I couldn't believe my eyes. I so badly wanted to take a picture of it! If only he was on my side of the road. My car has been acting up today... actually the radio is. It keeps trying to load a CD when the car isn't on. it's happened a few times today right after i unlock the doors. It's like it's possesed! Oh well if it needs to be replaced maybe i can one of the new radios with the MP3 inputs! That would be Sweeeet!

Man you've had some issues with your car grfnkl thats crazy you'd hav so many on a new car, though it is a new model. Good Luck hopefully they'll upgrade you for the hassles you've been going through. Over my holiday weekend I had some real interesting conversations with my father-in-law. I guess he used to work with a guy, David Stribling, who now restores mustangs in central indiana. He's offered to introduce me to him and tour his shop. I heard he designed some parts for older stangs to upgrade to the new shelby drivetrains and suspension and they are sold in magazines and on the net. I just found this article googlin David Stribling . Now, not that I'm a big stang fan, but I am interested in seeing how his restoration shop works, and maybe get some ideas for my own custom shop. Well back to the grind tomorrow...

For the G6... there are a lot of problems with the 6 disc monsoon stereo... anywhere from stop working, to eating CD's, to a variety of other issues... so I just have one of the many symptoms that come to plague the radio. I need to bring the car in for an oil change anyways so maybe I'll bring it in and find out about the radio. I think I've heard of David Stribling.... that's pretty cool though XI. I'm not a big stang fan myself... except Eleanor... Oh I would love to have her! She can take me for a ride anytime! hahahah It would be an awesome opportunity though to see his shop and get a grand tour on things. Oh.. I'm so sore from raking leaves....
