Re: Pro Touring Camaro of a different ......size?
Finally something to report on this car. I finally got back to work on it a little bit. I've also been trying to hammer out the order from RB motion for the A/N fittings, rod ends, valve stems, and spark plugs. I took a spare head cast that I had and drilled it for the brass rod I am using for the turbo headers. Brass was chosen because of the following reasons:
1. I like bending it much better than I do plastic. 2. It can be soldered together for a much stronger joint (IMHO) 3. I didn't trust just plastic to support the weight of the resin turbo's and piping that will be hanging off of them. The first 3 photos are of the scale piece, the last is of the 1:1 I am using for reference.

Re: Pro Touring Camaro of a different ......size?
yessir, it is the 1/12th. All ties have been severed with my ex girlfriend, so I'm hoping her brother still pulls through on the wheels. If not, I will have to get some sleeves made sometime next year by one of the machinists in the hobby. I've taken a break from building right now. I've had some good ideas for getting this bad boy well on its way. but I don't have the time or the drive right now. I hope to get back into the swing of things mid december when the Fall semester is over.

Re: Pro Touring Camaro of a different ......size?
Well, this is pretty much an insane project. I would never be able to complete something like this. Nice. |

Re: Pro Touring Camaro of a different ......size?
am going to be hitting the drawing board again, for the wheels and tires. This time I am going to start with the tires, and then move to the wheels. I've been talking to a machinist who works almost completely in scale parts. He says that this is the way to tackle it. So I am looking for suggestions on wheel/tire combo's. If this were a real world car. It would have a TT LS7 so we are talking close to 1000 at the wheels. I want something that is going to look good and be able to hold the power. My original wheels called for 11" wheels out back and 8.5" up front. Maybe a 18/19 combo. Suggestions with pictures would be great. I want this build to be as realistic as possible.

Re: Pro Touring Camaro of a different ......size?
Well, I've started getting back into it. Decided to change the wheels up. they are forgeline WC3p's
The are smaller than the other wheels I had designed. I'll show some pictures of where I am at with the wheels in just a bit. they will start out as a multi piece design at first to ensure symmetry in the spokes. then the resin "spokes" will be attached to the outer ring, and the center, then I will drill the holes for the bolts for the the center. The master will be sent out so sleeves can be machined.

Re: Pro Touring Camaro of a different ......size?
well here is where I am at. I am waiting for a bit, so I have several items to make molds of at once before I start pouring the RTV. you can see the outter ring and the spoke that will be copied so that they are all exactly alike
