Re: Zakspeed Turbo Capri 1/12 Scratch
Another small step forward.
I have done the rear trunk.A lot of small parts are missing, but first i must do all the scratchparts before i do the small stuff. The inside is also a step further. I have made the middle tunnel and some small parts on the bottom. The seat is in the right place. Next will be the cage, but first i have take a closer look to my reference pics. Christian |

Re: Zakspeed Turbo Capri 1/12 Scratch
Thanks guys!
The roll cage is nearly completed.I think there are some tubes missing, but first i have to check my reference pic for it. The hole roll cage is only attached with some styrene bars and can easily been removed for coloring. Christian |

Re: Zakspeed Turbo Capri 1/12 Scratch
Hi,
next update is coming. The capri stands on his own wheels.I think he is looking very well. The chassis got the right high.I think this is ok. The roll cage is ready now, until the putty is sanded. The seat is also put in the right place and connected with styrene rod. At least i put the steering wheel in his place. So,enough for today.Next step will be the dashboard. Thanks for watching! Re: Zakspeed Turbo Capri 1/12 Scratch
Thanks John,
but i don't think that i'm in the same league of SB or Jaykay. Those guys are more like an artist than my rough work. When i look at the fabulous parts from SB or the fine clean finish of Jaykay work,i'm miles away from it. I put everything together and it's ok for me,but not that perfect look of their work. Re: Zakspeed Turbo Capri 1/12 Scratch
Christian - do not sell yourself short on your skills
Yes Mike and JayKay are the masters with their machining skills and accessibility to the machining equipment and the recent 3D printers that make their work look good you are like SB - you come up with an idea and you just "make it" SB works more with styrene and green stuff, but you have completed a masterpiece with your 1/12 Gp5 Capri I guess my argument for placing you up there with Mike - JayKay and SB - is because you "make your static replica" the rest of us just make models I understand your modesty - but you are worthy of that small group - and I'm sure JayKay - Mike - and SB feel the same way about you, your skills and your contributions. Re: Zakspeed Turbo Capri 1/12 Scratch
Happy New Year!
Thanks guys,Im proud to hear that! Next work was the gauge's on the dashboard. They got an small diameter of about 5mm and an small ring around them. How to do that small stuff? First i wanted to use an aluminum pipe with a round of 6mm. But i dont got one at home. So i re-thought what i can use. I bought some time ago stuff in german called "Aderendhülsen" for electrical stuff. It got a nice shape around the opening, but also the wrong size. The outer diameter is 5,2mm.This is the diameter i need inside. So i used a set of round tools and make it a bit wider. 3-4 punches with a hammer and it fits the decals. I put it into the holes and it looks fine.I make small sheet into the holes, than the decals and than a small clear round on the top of them. Finished! Christian |
