Maintenance Inquiry: Brake Pad Replacement - Emmanuel Katto Uganda

Hello everyone, My name is Emmanuel Katto and I own a 2018 Honda Civic EX with a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine. I’ve noticed some squeaking noises when I brake, especially when driving at low speeds, which I suspect means my brake pads are wearing down.

I’ve never attempted to replace brake pads myself, but I'm eager to learn and save some money on this common maintenance task. Here are a few questions I have for those experienced with DIY brake pad replacements:

  1. What specific tools will I need for this job? I have a basic toolset, but I want to make sure I have everything necessary before getting started. Also, which brake pad brands do you recommend for durability and performance for my Civic?
  2. Step-by-Step Guidance: Could you provide a clear step-by-step process for replacing the front brake pads on my 2018 Honda Civic EX? I’d appreciate any tips you have to make the process smoother and any common pitfalls to avoid.
Thank you in advance for any help and guidance you can provide!

Best,
Emmanuel Katto

Plenty of videos on YouTube explaining the whole process. BTW, welcome to the forum.
