Used Car Mechanic Inspection
Hi. I'm preparing to buy a used vehicle. I found several at some "mom & pop" dealerships near me. Is it unusual for a dealer to allow a prospective buyer to take the car to their mechanic for inspection? These types of dealerships I assume by many auction vehicles, so inspection by a 3rd party mechanic is very important to me, so I can understand if it has any issues.
Thanks very much for any thoughts. |

It's actually quite common for reputable used car dealerships to allow prospective buyers to take the car to their own mechanic for inspection. It's a good practice and shows that the dealer has nothing to hide about the condition of the vehicle. If the dealer hesitates or refuses, it might be a red flag. Given that many of these "mom & pop" dealerships do purchase vehicles from auctions, having a third-party mechanic inspect the car is a very smart move. It ensures you're aware of any potential issues before making a purchase. Thanks and good luck with your car hunt! |
