2004 Envoy AC Compressor Not Working Properly
I have a 2004 Envoy where the air will come on at about 70 degrees, but as the day gets hotter it won't cool anymore. Everything comes on but it acts like it's out of freon. Changed the fuses and made sure the freon was full. It gets cold when it does run at lower temps, but once the outside temp warms up, it won't cool. Any suggestions what might cause this? Thanks.

Re: 2004 Envoy AC Compressor Not Working Properly
Just saw a similar issue on another Envoy. The radiator fan failed. When the car is cool/outside temp is cool it works great. Once it's warm it barely worked. Found the fan not working so we starred it and put a fan in front of it and the vent temp dropped dramatically.

Re: 2004 Envoy AC Compressor Not Working Properly
Thanks for the advise, but the fan is working properly.
However, I spoke to a mechanic and was told it may be a cooling sensor under the hood that senses when the engine gets too hot and triggers the AC to shut down to keep it from running hotter. No clue where said sensor may be. Could it be this and, if so, where would I find it? Thanks again for any help yoy can provide. |

Could be that. Not 100% where the sensor is on an Envoy though
