Oil Drain Plug Magnet in 2017 Santa Fe?
Does anyone know if the 2017 Santa Fe has a magnetic oil drain plug? Seems it might be a good idea what with the rod bearings self-destructing.

I asked the dealer's service manager, and he said the 2017 comes with a magnetic drain plug. I never thought of using an oil filter magnet. Is that just a magnet you stick to the outside of the filter?

There are a few different styles. There are ones that go over the top of the filter. There are ones that go around the filter itself, and there are even ones that screw onto the oil filter housing for some models.

I just run an oil filter magnet like I have on my Corvette. Rod bearing failure is a real issue on the 2.4 GDI.
