HHR a/c no cold air
Well water began to seep through the cabin via the air vents ,a/c vents and through the a/c's fan as well.long story short i read that the a/c's outside drain needed to be unclogged so it messed up the blower motor (fan) since i didn't do that ,so i had to replace the motor oh and before i forget cold air was still blowing even after the fan stopped working due to water getting into the coils and connector itself. anyhow I replaced the blower motor (fan) thinking that was that, the fan worked fine (got it off amazon) but no cold air came out ,also I noticed that the A/c's compressor wasn't turning on as much as i could tell ...any help would be greatly appreciated thanks

Re: HHR a/c no cold air
It would probably be most helpful to check the system pressures (both sides) to determine if the charge is correct and if the expansion control is functioning as designed.

Yes really you need to check ac pressure. Not easy for a DIYer but you can buy som recharge kis at auto parts places that have guages on them. Your system could just have slow leak and low on freon.

Yeah that might be the issue, I did notice a faint smell of Freon, but I guess I might have to take it to a specialist thanks anyway for the reply

Re: HHR a/c no cold air
Okay I got it checked out they said it’s the evaporator?? Is that’s what’s located behind the firewall/ baseboard? If so how come the heater is still working if it’s the heater core that needs replacing any suggestions?

Re: HHR a/c no cold air
The evaporator is the coil where compressed refrigerant is allowed to expand to chill the air passing through the coil. It is the basic equivalent of what the heater core does to warm the incoming air for heating.
The evap coil is usually in the case connected to the firewall inside the engine compartment. Replacement of the evaporator is a bit labor intensive, and should include a new expansion control (orifice), It will also require evacuation of the system, adding the correct oil charge, and refilling with refrigerant. It is possible that the blower damaged the evap coil if the fan disintegrated, or replacement work may have damaged the coil.
