2012 Ram 1500 ST

I am looking at buying a Dodge pickup and have been told to steer clear of dodge's for different reasons, but this one is coming in at the right price at the wrong but right time....

is there anything anyone can help me look for before i purchase it on monday dealership is closed tomorrow (Sunday) so it gives me another day to sleep on the decision.

it has fairly high miles but if someone were using it as a daily driver and getaway vehicle i guess the numbers are about right it has 215000 miles on the 5.7 hemi but passed a mechanical inspection from dealer so its 21000 miles per year x 10 years sounds about right to me...

is there anything i should worry about/look for before i drop my money on this truck, it's the only thing in my price range at the moment with car used car prices so high this one keeps bringing me back to it

10 years in Canada? I would be wary of Rust.

Re: 2012 Ram 1500 ST

thanks for your input but i have seen a 2017 promaster with completely rotted back doors,i guess dodge and their paint scheme is the same as ford except with ford the paint bubbles an their products i have had 5 different vehicles where the paint just peeled off the hood and when i asked ford about it they said that because it did not perforate the panel i was to pay for repairs out of pocket

i was more concerned about the 4x4,transfer case, motor stuff like that body looks fairly clean and no rust showing

Re: 2012 Ram 1500 ST

well after much deliberation and sleepless nights...35c here in canada i am going to see if the truck is available tomorrow as it is on a dealer lot and is under value by a lot not sure why except for the mileage... so if the dealer still has it and my bank goes for it i will own a dodge ram 1500 st tomorrow and first thing 2 things it gets are a tonneau cover and running boards. i did manage to contact dealer who says it runs perfect but his mechanic says it needs spark plugs so as i know a guy in a parts store i will get him to order up new plugs and coils for this beast.. i hope i am doing the right thing switching from FORD TO DODGE but this is in my price range and will be handy on moving day

Re: 2012 Ram 1500 ST

Beware the Hemi engines. There are fuel pump relay (the stock computer can't handle the current so they installed a relay that's been upgraded with yet another relay) issues. Many Hemis are having camshaft lubrication issues resulting in messed up roller lifters and camshaft lobe wear after excessive idling.
My 2011 Jeep Hemi has the fuel pump relay issue/engine unexpectedly stalling on the road. Because I started using full synthetic oil at 4000 miles and still use it & no excessive idling, mine is still going with 160K.
