Help identifying thief's car
Someone stole a pretty sizeable check out of my mailbox, altered the name and got it accepted at a bank. Those involved are all dragging their feet getting anything done, so I'm doing what I can.
This is from the security camera from my neighbor across the street. There's a decent shot from the driver's side as it stops to let out the guy that stole my mail. It looks like a 4 door hatchback, and if memory serves, that little dark square just behind the front wheel is the Saturn logo. I found some pictures online of a 2008 Saturn Astra which looks pretty close. I'm hoping people more into cars than me might have more info. Thank you for any help you can provide. Re: Help identifying thief's car
The dark spot behind the front wheel might also be a side turn signal indicator. To me the car in the video image is too long to be an Astra and the brake light is too high up. I'm thinking more like an early-2000's to 2010 Mazda5, but the taillights still don't look quite right for that either....
For example, this 2008 Mazda5. -Rod |

Re: Help identifying thief's car
Thanks for the input. I agree that does look pretty close too. The pic I posted is from a screenshot I took on my phone. It was of a video the neighbor sent. I think he’d just grabbed a quick video on his phone of the actual file playing on a PC. So the quality could be better. He just sent me the original video file which isn’t great, but it’s a little better. I’m pretty sure you can make out the door handle placement, and they both look like they’re to the rear. The rear doors of the Mazda5 slide like a minivan and the rear door handles are at the front of the door. I haven’t dug through every model year, but unless at some point they switched to hinged instead of sliding that may rule it out.

Re: Help identifying thief's car
A few more shots from the video. Near the end the headlights hit the camera and it switched from night IR mode to day mode, so the car is darker but the lights aren't as washed out, so it's easier to see their placement.

Re: Help identifying thief's car
I was liking the Saturn until this. In the security footage you can see the lit outline from the rear plate. It's clearly on the back hatch, when the Saturn's is down on the bumper.

More data. Brake light bar on top of hatch and headlight shape.
