Gearbox rebuild issue
Hi there
I'm in the middle of a gearbox rebuild (Black cover). The front input shaft bearing failed and took out the seal. The instructions i've read and the videos i've seen show the two shafts being pulled out without resistance. I had to use a hammer to tap my input shaft out. It was not coming out by hand and took quite a few taps with the hammer. My issue here is the new bearing was tight in the bore as well. Which means I'm going to have to tap the input shaft back in but this means tapping on the inner race whilst the resistance is on the outer race...bad for the new bearing. Anyone experience this or better yet, have a solution? |

Re: Gearbox rebuild issue
Press/tap on the outer race to seat the input shaft bearing instead of pressing the shaft.
