starter life?
Does anyone have an idea of how long a starter lasts with this auto shutoff system?

Re: starter life?
They have only been around for a few years, so the jury is out. I'd be just as concerned with the flywheel as the starter.
Count how many times the engine restarts during a "normal" trip, then divide by four. That is the rough equivalent of the number of days' driving the starter would experience. You can bet a week's salary that automakers didn't do this to make anything better for you, but only to hit C.A.F.E. mileage goals - At your expense.

Re: starter life?
Another issue with the start/stop system is you have no AC when idling. On hot ass days like we've been experiencing the last week that it more than enough to want to bypass it.
