About 3 hrs labor, some fluid, maybe hoses, then a toe in alignment. You can price the rack online. Local labor rates apply.

I,m thinking the local "pull a part" has several lumina,s. maybe I,ll get a used rack from there. there,s a lot of mechanics pulling parts that may do the work. the slight fender bender was not so slight after all. lol |

Re: steering rack replacement costs=--- ???
local shops are charging about $875.total.
my mobile mechanic said he ain,t sure if a cross member has to be removed. In that case he can,t do it because he would need a "rack" to lift the Lumina. Is there a cross member on the 98 lumina? Thanks for any help. |

Re: steering rack replacement costs=--- ???
No member, just the subframe, this can be done without dropping the subframe, I don't understand the problem here, as the procedure is all over the net, U tube included. I would not risk a used rack!
