2016 escape 1.6 ecoboost
Hello everyone.
My wife has a 2016 escape 1.6 ecoboost. It first started out have a loud whistle sound. It started about a week ago. As of friday November 23 2018 the car is in limp mode. It has codes P0299 ,P0303 and P2196. Im not sure where to start at. I have checked for cracks in any of the lines. But couldnt find any. The only thing i did before this happend was added a little oil and cleaned the air filter. We dont have the money to put it in the shop. So i have to do the work myself. The suv has 67000 miles give or take. So its around 7000 miles out of warranty. Thanks for any help. Ill update as things go. |

Check the EGR valve and see if it is cracked open. Some Escapes have had problems with the catalytic converter clogging up and the back pressure blowing cracks or exploding the EGR.

Im not seeing an egr valve. People at autozone said the 1.6 ecoboost doesn't have an egr valve. Can you tell me the location of the egr valve. Thanks for the help

https://www.carcarekiosk.com/video/2...engine/replaceJust a thought. Is the air filter box lid on properly? If not seated correctly, it probably would whistle.

Re: 2016 escape 1.6 ecoboost
So put the car in the shop. They are telling me the the wastegate had failed causing oil to get up into the air Inlet of the turbo burning up the turbo. Fords once $1,800 for a new Turbo with a one-year warranty the car only has 67,000 miles on it. If you ever get an EcoBoost make sure to get an extended warranty
