2007 Fusion SE - Serpentine belt

2007 Fusion SE
4 cylinder
183,000

Replaced serpentine belt 5,000 miles ago after local mechanic said it was the reason for the squealing - which did stop. However, the car has thrown the belt three times since replacing. Each time it's been after the car has sat 3-4 days without being started.

The belt tension pulley has some resistance by feel, but in full disclosure I don't know what it should feel like for tension. The process to put the belt back on the car isn't a quick one and definately not something my wife can do by herself if she's left stranded.

I don't recall the manufacture of the replacement belt. I've seen comments on other threads about Goodyear Belts as highly recommended.

My assumption is the belt is out of spec or the belt tension pulley, but I'd welcome anyone else's thoughts/comments/experiences.

Thanks

Re: 2007 Fusion SE - Serpentine belt

Update - searched a different forum and found several other Fusion owners having the same problem. Sounds like there is/was a problem with the belt tension pulley. I replaced the whole belt tension pulley assembly. No further issues so far.
